Download and installation Instructions

These can be used if you need a single file or wish to undertake parts of the installation manually.

This may be a preferred option if you already have Microsoft SQL Server.

If you do not download and install the registry settings then all views will be initially blank and you will have to turn on columns manually using the field picker to get a useful view of data.

The latest update of Regatta manager can be downloaded to your Regatta Manager installation folder (e.g. c:\Program Files\Regatta Manager) at the following link:

Step 1. Download and install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine 

Only perform this step if you do not have access to an existing SQL Server or MSDE database server.

You can tell if your PC is running either by the presence of the icon    on the toolbar. If you see this icon then proceed to step 2.

 

Download Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) Release A from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=413744D1-A0BC-479F-BAFA-E4B278EB9147&displaylang=en

Click on the link to MSDE200A.exe in the lower part of the page.

The following dialog is presented:

 

 

Select Run or Save as required.

When the download is complete, execute the downloaded file to unzip the installation files.

You can select the destination for the unzip, the rest of these instructions will assume you have selected the default location c:\MSDERelA.

 

In Windows Explorer, go to  c:\MSDERelA and edit the file setup.ini using Notepad.

The default contents of the file are

    [Options]

 

Add two lines as below so that the file contents are

    [Options]
    SECURITYMODE=SQL
    SAPWD=password

 

Save the edited file.

Double click on the file setup.exe in c:\MSDERelA.

Installation of Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine will commence.

 

On completion of the installation you should reboot your machine.

On restart the database engine will be running. You should see the icon   on the toolbar.

 

Step 2. Download Regatta Manager Installation Program

Download the zipped Regatta Manager installation program (32 Mb approx) from

http://www.regattamanager.com.au/download/RegattaManager.zip

  

Step 3. Unzip Regatta Manager Installation

Unzip RegattaManager.zip to e.g. c:\Temp

 

Step 4. Run Regatta Manager Installation

Using Windows Explorer, find the program RMSInstall.exe in the folder c:\Temp or other as selected in Step
Double click on this file to start the installation.

The Regatta Manager installation dialog is presented.

Proceed through the available steps - ensure that you enter the password selected in step 1 before installing the Regatta Manager database

 

Step 5. Run Regatta Manager

After installation, icons for Regatta Manager, Race Nomination and Weather Station will appear on your desktop and start menu.

 

Regatta Manager starts with the product registration dialog, for instance:

 

 

Click OK

 

The “Database Connections” dialog is presented.

In the "Password" box, enter the password "password"

Note Regatta Manager will remember this for next time.

 

 

Click “Test”

 

Ensure you get Success indicated:

 

 

Click OK

 

You should now see something in the User field:

 

 

Ensure the “Connect automatically” check box is ticked, this will result in Regatta Manager connecting to the same database each time the program starts.

 

Regatta Manager is now ready for use.

 

Click OK to continue. Regatta Manager starts, a typical screen shot is as follows:

 

Using Regatta Manager

The tree view to the left, and the toolbar in each screen, together are used to navigate and operate in Regatta Manager.

Toolbar hints are obtained by moving the mouse over the toolbar.

Regularly used toolbar buttons are the Field Picker (F1), Report (F2) and Refresh (F5) buttons (see the toolbar at the top of the screenshot below)

In any screen an HTML report can be generated by the F2 Report button as follows:

 

Get the latest Regatta Manager update

The latest update of Regatta manager can be downloaded to your Regatta Manager installation folder (e.g. c:\Program Files\Regatta Manager) at the following link:

After completing the installation you should always get the latest update to ensure you are working with the most current release

 

Obtaining a product registration code for Regatta Manager 

Contact RTS SYSTEMS as below with your product serial number and arrange payment.

On receipt of payment you will be issued with your product registration code which will unlock Regatta Manager for a single computer.

Additional registration codes for a single organization are obtainable for a small extra charge.

 

Enhancements and assistance

Regatta Manager is a “work in progress”. RTS SYSTEMS policy is to be responsive to the requests of users by developing new functionality requested, generally at no charge as the functionality of the product is enhanced by new features. Enhancements then become available to all users by download.

 

On-site installation and configuration is available on request as is preparation of a startup database to suit your club’s operation.
